The Original New Orleans Jazz Band has been one of the principal jazz bands to carry out the recordings. The band was comprised of generally the New Orleans musicians; the band was quite known in New York City in the late 1910s. The band had some of the first New Orleans chic players to follow the Original Dixieland Jass Band's achievement playing in Manhattan. Like the "ODJB", most were experts of Papa Jack Laine's clusters in New Orleans. The tapes of the band were distributed by Gennett Records and Okeh Records. The music band also in fact recorded one or more flanks for the Emerson Records, which appeared to have never been distributed.

Jimmy Durante was the only New Yorker in the band.
